Race

Race

Can you believe that race on Tuesday?!

I mean, after all that build-up, it actually lived up to the hype: it slowed business, people waited in long lines to be a part of it, and the weather didn’t factor in as much as the experts thought it would. And after all the confusion at the start, all the jockeying for position, it really just came down to a sprint to the finish. It was neck and neck, down to the wire, for a photo finish. Thankfully, we have a winner.

MaKyBe DiVa won the Melbun Cup for the second year in a row!

What, you thought I was talking about the election? Ya know, people, there *is* a world outside the US…

The election did generate a lot of interest over here; over the past few months, I have become something of an expert on campaign finance, voter apathy, and the electrical college. All I really have to say about the outcome, though, is I will never have to describe where Ohio is again!

(And for the record, I was no where *near* Ohio on Tuesday – I haven’t been there in months, and I haven’t lived there in years – so you can’t blame it on me! I do get a bit worried, though: first Florida has issues, then Ohio – both places I have lived. Makes you wonder a bit, doesn’t it? But I digress.)

Back to school: this week was my first on Peds Inpatients – taking care of the sick ones while they are guests at our fine institution. I went in on Sunday night to admit a few kiddies from the emergency room so I would have something to talk about on Monday morning. But I didn’t have what you would consider the best of starts to a rotation. The first little girl I saw merely *looked* at me and started screaming and crying – and didn’t stop for about 3 days. When I walked into the room with a second kid, she promptly threw up all over her mom. (At least it wasn’t on me.)

And who says I don’t have a way with kids?

And with that, it’s the weekend. Exams start two weeks from Saturday; needless to say, I’ll be spending most of my time between now and then locked away with the textbooks. I have regular meetings with my study group, and I am going through lots of practice questions and exams to get ready. And Sunday night, I’ll be back at the hospital, trying to admit a few patients. Not to mention trying to recover from that race on Tuesday…

As always, Love to All and keep working on your 101 List!
